Why in the world would SABCO suddenly decide to modify its already proven fermenter style?

Good question! After all, there are multi-thousand of these beauties in circulation and all work just fine. The answer lies with our audience who do us the favor of providing excellent feedback throughout the year. Some of these owners are highly professional, experienced brewers. When we get feedback from these guys and gals, we tend to shut-up and listen. Suggesting that old dogs can’t learn new tricks is just nonsense. Here at SABCO we tend to be our own best critics as well and seek better, cleaner, more sanitary ways to do the same thing every day. For those older customers of ours with better memories than my own, they may recall that our fermenter alone has “evolved” no less than 10 times over the course of the last 25 years. (yes… we’ve been making these for a long time).

So with regard to your question of… If it works, why fix it? … Here’s my best answer.

<img class=”alignleft wp-image-3886 size-medium” src=”http://brewmagic.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/Front_sm1-236×300.jpg” alt=”Front_sm” width=”236″ height=”300″ />

To better fit into kegerators, we lowered the uppermost valve port and turned it for easier connection. The previous upper valve was already sanitary type, but we wanted one that we could disassemble if necessary for cleaning. We now use the same sanitary type valve on the racking arm . In so doing we eliminated a 90 degree turn and replaced it with a gradual turn radius to improve flow of yeast slurry during harvesting. Finally, we added a capped 1/2″ Tri-Clamp port on the top so that brewers can install a carb stone wand for aerating or carbonating in the same vessel. As before, we never use bulk-head threaded fittings.

Got all that? Perhaps a shorter answer might go as follows: Getting it to work was the easy part. Pro-level brewers demand much more however. Our goal is not “cheap and shiney homebrew quality”. We focus rather on commercial quality at a great price. Quite a difference that may go without notice!

Not to worry though, you can bet that I’ll do my best to point such things out to you!

Best brews to you!
